28th died at his home Tuesday morning after a Inigering illness. He was born in Salem, county, N. son of John and Helene (Woolman) Holme, and before he was of age left home for Montage's he went into Dawson City, Alaska, with six tons of merchandise, and two years later the firm of Holme, Miller hardware and mining machinery, was established there. In 1907 the business was sold and he came to Tacoma. To housing shortage Holme and Miller financed the building of 54 houses and platted the Holme and Miller addition in the north end.

Interested rose growing, Holme was president of the Tacoma Rose society in 1917 and, during terms as mayor of Angelo V. Fawcett and W. W. Seymour, was chairman of the civil service board. His old-time membership in the Tacoma Elks lodge and the North Shakespeare club rounded his interests still further, and he served for many years on the investment committee of the Children's Industrial home.

Survivors are his wife, Evalyn Miller Holme of the home and three sisters, in Salem, N. Mrs. J. Elmer Troth and the Misses Margaret and Eleanor Holme. Buckley-King Co.

Mrs. MRS. Carrie CARRIE HARRISON, "resident Harrison, a' of Washington for 67 years, died Monday at a local hospital. She had made her home since 1912 with a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Halverson, at Steilacoom.

Born in Uhrichville, Ohio, 76 years ago, Mrs. Harrison spent many years at Roslyn and Cle Elum. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Halverson, Mrs. Verna Seaburg, also of Steilacoom, and Mrs.

ADAM SHERMAN First Sgt. Adam Sherman (retired), 54, died Sunday in a local hospital. His home was at 5601 So. 61st St. and he had been in Tacoma for eight years.

Sergeant Sherman was born in Russia, enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1925 and lost a leg in Italy in World War II. He had a number of medals, and retired in 1946. Survivors are the wife, Kath- John Bernard Purcell, 84, formerly of Salmon Beach, died Monday in a local hospital.

The girl, Shirley Winegar, failed to return home after being sent to the store for a bottle of milk. A note stating she was going to her sister's home at Renton with a boy friend was found but she did not appear in Renton. Word was received by McCreadie Tuesday from Sheriff Eugene Biscailuz, of Los Angeles county, that Duval and the girl had been seen at Puente. The wire said Duval had arrived at a sister's home Feb.
